MISSION STATEMENT

In June 1997, Watonga Main Street, Inc. joined a coast-to-coast movement led by the National Main Street Center and the Oklahoma Main Street Program that involves more than 1,000 community programs accross the country.

By joining this organization our community can bring results and make the downtown's image one of worth and value in the market place and will help ensure the commercial downtown district as the center of community life. This will be accomplished through historic preservation and economic revitalization. Watonga Main Street, Inc. mission statement describes the organization's purpose clearly and simply.

"Watonga has capitalized on its location and existing assets to successfully prove that a community involvement. The ongoing leadership provided by volunteers of the Main Street Organization, continues to strengthen the self-help determination that has brought about this change.

A renewed sense of place and belonging create reasons for the next generation to stay. Downtown is clean, bright and full of economic opportunity and social activity."
