Pam Williams, the current tag agent, was
appointed by senator Ron Justice and took over the Watonga Tag Agency from
Mrs. Judy Chapman on November 1, 2007. Jo Archer ran the tag office for
about 20 years before Judy.
Pam was born and raised
in Enid, Oklahoma. She graduated from
Enid High School, and then graduated from
Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford before
moving in Watonga in May 1980. In 1982 she started working at Watonga
State Bank in loan processing.
She is the only tag
agent within 20 miles and she not only does drivers licenses and tag agent
jobs but she offers passport pictures for conceal carry licenses. She
is also a notary public.
Pam hopes to build the
business enough to hire a part time and eventually a full time employee. The
Watonga Tag Office has a great location, which even draws out-of-town
customers to its door. Pam’s main goal is to serve her Watonga customers
in the best way possible.
A new process at the
Watonga Tag Office is that Pam is now able to renew expired drivers licenses
(less than 2 years) with the individual’s birth certificates. You might
not know that tag agents are self employed under the state’s jurisdiction
with the state’s guidelines and pricing.
Pam says that her best
experiences since taking over the tag agent job has been meeting a lot of
new customers. Her worst experience was going through two robberies and
dealing with that awful experience.
