We are so
blessed to have Gary and Rhonda
Olsen as new citizens of
Watonga; some ‘new blood’ for
our community. They are such
positive, optimistic,
intelligent people and I know
that they would like to meet
you.
They are
already getting involved in
civic organizations and they are
responsible for another couple
moving to our community as well
as people visiting Watonga
because their relatives stop
here as they drive to the family
farm in the panhandle.
I have
heard Rhonda say more than once
that she is so happy to be in
Watonga. She can go to the
grocery store in 5 minutes!
And she is
such a talented pianist. I
heard her play at a Christian
Church program and she was all
over that piano!
Their
store, Country Home Antiques is
more than an antique store.
They have gifts and
collectibles. And if they don’t
have what you are looking for,
they can probably help you find
it.
Country
Home Antiques (also at
this
website) has some
real interesting items at very
reasonable prices. I know
you’ll just love what they have
to offer.
Here’s how
they found Watonga:
Gary and
Rhonda had a dream of finding an
old two story building in a
small rural town where they
could have an antique store in
the downstairs while living
upstairs. Gary is originally
from Fullerton, California and
Rhonda was raised in Turpin,
Oklahoma. Gary is in
management for an oil field
related pump company where he
manages manufacturing. His job
took him to Tulsa where he met
Rhonda who worked for a company
in the import-export field
coordinating transportation of
manufactured goods overseas and
importing purchased materials
such as interior and structures
of aircraft and off road mining
equipment from overseas for the
oil field industry.
They have
had a few trials during their
first year in business: an
adventure trapping a few skunks
that tunneled their way in under
the building when it got cold
and dealing with the enormous
spring rains and a hurricane and
the cancellation of the Cheese
Festival; but I hope we can all
make the Olson’s feel as
comfortable in Watonga as they
make their customers feel in
their new store.
