WHAT’S HAPPENING ON MAIN STREET

THE MAIN STREET INVITATIONAL FUNdraiser GOLF TOURNAMENT will be happening at Roman Nose Golf Course on August the 21. Roberta House and her crew have agreed to provide the shrimp boil feast again this year and there will be iced towels , hot dogs and plenty of cold drinks on the course.  Although this tournament has been copied many times, this is the original “FUN” tournament, with it’s mulligan’s, throws, $100.00 prize holes, $10,000 dollar hole-in-one, a new vehicle hole-in-one, a $300 dollar shoot out, and plenty of door prizes and gold dollars at the close of the tournament.  This year the Main Street golf committee has come up with some new ideas to make the event even more fun and challenging. If you have not registered yet, see Tony Kohl, Bob Shoemaker or one of the golf committee members soon, as the tournament usually sells out fast.

The Watonga Main Street is hosting a grant writing seminar, upstairs at the Noble House Restaurant Tuesday and Wednesday, the 27, and 28, of August with Melyn Johnson from the Department of Tourism providing the instruction. As of this writing 22 folks were signed up to take the course. Applying for, and getting grants is a lot more difficult than most folks think. It usually takes a lot of work and research and someone with some knowledge and expertise to be successful in obtaining the grants. Melyn has a lot of both knowledge and expertise, not only with tourism department, but also as a circuit rider for the Oklahoma Arts Council. I am sure those taking the course will benefit greatly from the experience.
